There is Such a Thing as Too Much, Say Auto Purchasers

Automakers may be running a race to add the latest features to their infotainment systems, but it turns out consumers are yearning for simpler times. SBD, an automotive consultancy firm along with Nielsen released this survey that appeared in Automotive News. After polling 14,000 car owners, 43% of them felt automakers were adding too many tech features to their cars.

When asked to rank individual components in their cars, the bottom 10 were all related to infotainment features such as voice recognition, smartphone integration, configurable instrument panels and apps.

As the author Chris Perkins noted: “As it turns out, carmakers are good at making cars, not smartphones.”

That may be true for the auto industry, but at Nextivity we have always been proponents of simplicity.
