Nextivity Adds Fiber Connectivity for Campus and Enterprise Environments

cellular signal for high rise

Nextivity has announced an expansion of its CEL-FI QUATRA family, with the introduction of the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 Fiber hub. The CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 is a multi-carrier, hybrid active DAS that provides in-building cellular coverage to enterprises. The fiber hub expands cellular coverage in QUATRA 4000 deployments in enterprise locations, by distributing the donor signal via optical fiber from one building or location to the next.

The fiber hub uses fiber connectivity from the Network Unit (NU) of the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 (the headend of the system) to the fiber hub. The hub can be installed up to 1.24 miles (2 kilometers) away from the NU. The NU receives the donor cellular signal off-air from outdoor antennas or from operator small cells and transmits the signal over fiber to the Fiber HUB with up to 100 dB gain and no signal loss. The NU and the fiber hub provide uniform cellular coverage for all major carriers in spaces up to 150,000 square feet per NU/fiber hub. Install multiple NUs and fiber hubs to cover a facility.

There are many types of deployments that will benefit from the fiber hub including high rise buildings and multi-unit campuses. Other uses for the hub include remote locations with no cellular signal – such as a coal mine, or a datacenter.

The fiber hub uses Nextivity WAVE, a cloud-based software platform and mobile app for commissioning and remote management . Nextivity provides WAVE software to partners to help increase deployment efficiency, reduce installation time, and provide better customer support.

Key features include:

  • Coverage up to 150,000 sq. ft. per NU or Fiber HUB
  • Single donor source transmitted over fiber
  • OS2 Single Mode Fiber NU and Hub
  • FCC certification
