Nextivity Takes Home Top Honors in Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – November 17, 2014 – Nextivity Inc.announced today that it took home top honors in this year’s Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition, an operator-reviewed awards program from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable. Nextivity was named the Cell Sites winner in the Wireless Networks category.

Nextivity won the award for its recently launched Cel-Fi Duo, a new dual-band smart signal booster designed for use on 3G, 4G LTE (including VoLTE) and UMTS networks. It offers dual-band support for up to 35MHz of boosted bandwidth, provides 10 times the gain of earlier versions, and uses patented echo-cancellation algorithms for stronger signals in the coverage area. It is the only dual-band smart signal booster designed to simultaneously boost UMTS/WCDMA voice as well as LTE signals. T-Mobile is the first wireless provider in North America to offer Cel-Fi Duo to its customers.

Cel-Fi Duo features Nextivity’s WAVE Self-Optimizing Networking (SON) capability, which enables various self-organizing-type algorithms to support no-touch, plug-and-play operation under any network deployment conditions. Additionally, the SON capability positions Nextivity’s family of smart signal boosters as the only ones identified by the Small Cell Forum as being suitable for deployment as part of small cell/heterogeneous networks.

“Since launching our next generation family of plug-and-play Cel-Fi smart signal boosters, our technology has been in the spotlight for its innovative approach to addressing the challenges of poor indoor coverage,” says Werner Sievers, president and CEO of Nextivity. “Receiving this Fierce Wireless award – where entries were judged by a carrier-only panel – reinforces the value we deliver to mobile operators, and their subscribers.“

Among the carrier-only panel of judges in the Fierce Wireless Innovation Award were executives from AT&T, CableLabs, Cablevision System Corporation, Comcast, Cox Communications, Inc., Orange, Sprint, TeliaSonera International Carrier, and Verizon. Full profiles of the judges can be found at https://www.fierceinnovationawards.com/telecom/2014/judges.

All winners were selected based on the following criteria: technology innovation, financial impact, market validation, compatibility with existing networks, end-user customer experience, and overall level of innovation.
